Type the target weight, pick the bar, and see the plates per side. The drawing uses steel tones for pounds and IPF colours for kilograms.

The target includes the bar. The result updates as you type and shows both sides of the bar.
Plates load from the heaviest down. The remainder is the weight that cannot be made with the plates listed.

How it works
No guessing
at the rack.
Bar first
The target includes the bar. A 45 lb bar with 225 lb on it means 90 lb per side. Change the bar to 35 lb and the plate math changes with it.
Greedy plates
The loader takes the heaviest plate that fits, then the next, until the side is as close as it can get. Pounds use 45, 35, 25, 10, 5 and 2.5. Kilograms use 25, 20, 15, 10, 5, 2.5 and 1.25.
Remainder
If the target cannot be made exactly, the remainder is the weight left over. The closest load is shown so you can decide whether to round the target or change the plates.
